DEIJ discussions to resume in September

As summer draws to a close, it's time to renew our DEIJ discussion group. 

All discussions are on zoom. We'll send the link closer to the date of each discussion. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. (except for November; see below). You are always welcome to join us whether or not you've read or viewed the material.

Here is our schedule for Sept-Dec 2023. We hope you'll join us!

9/19/23: Becoming Eve, book by Abby Stein. The powerful coming-of-age story of an ultra-Orthodox child who was born to become a rabbinic leader and instead became a woman.

10/17/23: Puerto Rico Has Stories to Tell podcast (Now and Then). How has Puerto Rico shaped American history? How does the national response to Hurricane Fiona reflect the complex relationship between Puerto Rico and the rest of the United States?

11/20/23: (NOTE that we'll meet Monday instead of Tuesday due to Thanksgiving) Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution. documentary A groundbreaking summer camp for teens with disabilities proves so inspiring that a group of its alumni join the radical disability rights movement to advocate for historic legislation changes.

12/19/23: Rough Sleepers, book by Tracy Kidder. Kidder tells the story of Dr. Jim O'Connell, a gifted man who invented a community of care for a city's unhoused population.
