AAUW Northwoods’ January Zoom program is Teaching Indigenous Culture: Wisconsin Tribal History and Sovereignty on Monday, January 2nd at 1 pm.
The speaker is David O'Connor, originally from and a member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. In 2012 he became the American Indian Studies Consultant at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, working to both ensure that Native students receive an equitable education and helping non-Native people learn about Native American and Indigenous cultures, as required under Wisconsin State Law [ Wisconsin Act 31].
